What is the CILT program?
Campers in Leadership Training (CILT) program is a nationally recognised leadership course offered by Camp Cheriths nationwide. It is a unique educational and practical challenge for high school age campers with leadership potential.
At Shasta Camp Cherith the CILT program is a two year course. Campers must attend both weeks of camp each year as well as complete work in the year between. Young women who have completed at least the tenth grade in high school may apply to be in the program. At camp, whilst still being campers, and enjoying the camp program, CILTs study and apply leadership skills, develop specific skills needed for camp leadership, assist in a variety of activities with younger campers, and draw closer to God through intensive Bible study and prayer. Any CILT graduate will share what a brilliant time they had as CILTs, and how they grew through the program!
Who can apply?
Minimum requirement for CILTs are determined nationally by Camp Cherith in order to maintain consistent standards within the network of camps.
These guidelines specify that CILTs must meet the following qualifications before being accepted into the program:
How do I apply to be a CILT?
The CILT program is by application only. It is not enough to register to come to camp - applicants must complete an application form, obtain three references, and have everything to the CILT Directors by 15 May.
The CILT Directors prayerfully review each application received, and send notifications in the weeks following. At that point successful applicants need to register for camp in the usual way, specifying on the form that they will be CILTs.
It is expensive to come to camp for two weeks, and if CILTs need financial assistance, a limited number of partial scholarships are available, both at the local and national level. More information about obtaining these scholarships please contact the camp board.
