Guidelines for CILT RESOURCE FILE
Every CILT is expected to compile a Resource File of items helpful to a camp staff member. The following suggest section titles to use in setting up the File, plus the minimum requirements. You are encouraged to expand the sections & add more sections. Wherever applicable, you should label the resource item with the appropriate age group.
Use expanding hanging file folders for each section, then manila folders for various categories in each section.
Section Title: SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS
Folders:
- Bible Exploration ideas (materials, teaching guidelines)
- Cabin Devotions resources (include at least one idea for each age group, samples)
- How to Lead a Camper to Christ
- Campfire talk ideas (for each age group include one object lesson with an introduction, study, & conclusion, & one personal illustration of God's work in your own life & two brief stories or articles that illustrate Christian truths.)
Section Title: COUNSELING METHODS
Folders:
- Camper Characteristics
- Communication guidelines
- Discipline
- Staff member qualifications & observations
Section Title: PROGRAM IDEAS
Folders:
- Cabin Time ideas (10 briefly detailed plans)
- Rainy day ideas (at least 10, indicating appropriate age groups)
- Songfests/music (written plans for 4 songfests, with transitional comments, words to at least 50 songs - 20 fun, 10 bridge, & 20 spiritual)
- Unified Evening Program Ideas (include at least 2 for each age group)
- Carnival booth ideas (at least 5 appropriate activities for carnivals)
- Skits (at least 10 skit ideas you would use)
Section Title: OUTDOOR LIVING SKILLS / NATURE
Folders:
- Campcraft
- Cookouts/Camp-outs (include at least 10 outdoor cooking recipes, instructions for safely cooking outside, resources necessary for cooking out)
- Hiking (directions to 3 hiking destinations around camp, 3 hiking songs, how to lay trails, at least 4 different types of hikes that can be taken)
- Nature (wildflower, tree, bird, star, insect, animal identification resources)
Section Title: GAMES/SPORTS
Folders:
- Games (Directions for 26 games: 5 get acquainted games, 5 relays, 5 active games, 5 quiet/transitional games, 3 musical games, 3 water games)
- Sports (Rules, equipment/field requirements for at least 2 camp appropriate sports)
Section Title: SKILL BUILDING ACTIVITIES
Folders:
- You will need to create a folder for each of your activity specializations (more on this at camp). Include in each folder diagrams, safety rules, lesson plans, materials & facilities needed, miscellaneous teaching techniques & resources, etc.
Section Title: CRAFTS
Folders:
- Instructions & samples for at least 10 crafts, indicating materials/supplies needed, age appropriateness.
Section Title: OTHER RESOURCES
Folders:
- First Aid
- Flag ceremony instructions & ideas
- Poetry/thoughts
