Beginning Archers
Day 1
- Take roll, say verse
- Read, explain rules
- Demonstrate use of equipment, stance
- Shoot (at least 2 full rounds)
- Learn scoring
- Emphasize control on range
Day 2
- Take roll, say verse
- Review rules
- Learn parts of equipment, anchor point
- Shoot, working on form and aim
- Introduce consistency
Day 3
- Take roll, say verse
- Review rules, parts as necessary
- Learn beginning terms not already covered
- Shoot, working on form and aim
- Introduce clustering, aim point
Day 4
- Take roll, say verse
- Review rules, stance, form as necessary
- Shoot, working on form, consistency, clustering
- Introduce "inner game" if desired
Day 5
- Take roll, say verse
- Shoot at fun targets like pictures, balloons,
or monopoly money
- Reward with candy if desired
- Total scores for announcement at dinner
Intermediate/Advanced Archers
Day 1
- Take roll, say verse
- Review rules, parts and use of equipment
- Review stance, anchor point, aiming point
- Shoot
- Review scoring
Day 2
- Take roll, say verse
- Review rules as necessary
- Shoot, working on aim and consistency
- Introduce "inner game", envisioning, no negative talk
- Learn intermediate terms
- Break if necessary to prevent fatigue
Day 3
- Take roll, say verse
- Learn advanced aim and consistency, clustering
- Shoot at pictures
- Learn advanced terms as desired
Day 4
- Take roll, say verse
- Shoot, working on consistency, clustering, inner game
- Learn advanced stances, positions
- Break if necessary to prevent fatigue
Day 5
- Take roll, say verse
- Shoot at fun targets like balloons or monopoly money
- Reward with candy, prizes, tuck vouchers, etc.
- Total scores for announcement at dinner
