Archery Rules
- Shoot on signal only.
- Retrieve on signal.
- Stay behind shooting line.
- Nock arrows only after archers have returned to the shooting line.
- Always use arm guards, and finger tabs.
- Wear no buttons, pins, etc. on left side of uniform.
- Inspect all equipment before using it.
- Never overdraw an arrow (past the corner of the mouth).
- Never draw a bow without an arrow in it.
- Use bows and arrows only in places meant for them: An arrow can go completely through a deer.
- In bracing, stringing the bow, avoid letting the fingers came between the string and the bow.
- Keep bow arm slightly bent to avoid injury.
- Keep bow off ground. Unbrace bow when through shooting.
- Never use anyone else's arrows, or any arrows not assigned to you.
- Be sure that your bow is correctly strung before shooting.
- Limber a bow up with several short draws before pulling to full draw.
- Never bend bow backward.
- Clear people away from target when removing arrows.
- To withdraw the arrow, place one hand against the target, palm out, with the arrow between the first and second fingers; with the other hand grasping the arrow close to the target, pull the arrow out at the same angle it went in.
- Arrows with feathers partially driven into the target should be pulled through from behind the target pile first.
- When arrows become buried in the grass, pull them forward from the pile and.
